Theme Thursday- Back To School

I've definitely been a busy scrapper these last few weeks..
Since I started on the design team at My Cricut Craft Room a few weeks ago, I've had lots of fun creating layouts with my Cricut Imagine.. New theme once a week really gets your MOJO flowing..LOL
I don't know about you, but I love coming up with new ways of creating layouts and for this week, I didn't want to create your normal bright colored Back To School layout, instead I went for grungy and dirty..LOL It is for my son Adam, so being a boy he was mostly always grungy and dirty...

I started off creating this using Cricut Craftroom design software (free)..
Decided to use the prints and colors off of the Imagine More Imagine cartridge.. love the grungy-ness to the prints on that cartridge.
Once I printed the images and cut them, I even dirtied em up a bit more with different shades of distress ink..
so, here is my finished layout:

I basically started off with creating the clouds and sun.  They were both on the Create-a-Critter cartridge.. since I used my Imagine to create this layout, I basically filled them images in with the colors from Imagine More cartridge, then printing and cutting.. super quick!!
The flat clouds are cut at 2 3/4", the round clouds are 2 1/4" and the sun is 4".. I inked all of the edges with vintage photo distress ink, faux stitched them with a fine tip black marker.. I foam dotted one of the clouds to my layout, the rest are attached flat..

The little owl on the branch is from the Winter Frolic cartridge. I cut him at 3 1/2".. first cutting the shadow cream, then the branch brown, owl yellow and trimmings red and green.. I added faux stitching to him as well and he is attached to the layout with foam tape..
My trees and fence are cut from the My Community cartridge.. The trees are cut at 4 1/4" and the fence is 2".. all of the edges are inked with distress ink, the tree I used Peeled Paint and then Vintage Photo..

The school bus is on the Doodlecharms cartridge, which I cut at 4" and the little heads are on the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge, which are all cut at 2 1/2"..I foam dotted them peeking through the bus windows.. I didn't want to add faces to them., now they can be anyone.

the title can be found on the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge, I cut it at 2 1/2" and the bus stop sign is on the Locker Talk cartridge and that was cut at 3"..  The grass is from Create-a-Critter and those were cut at 1 1/2", which I did distress those as well with Peeled paint distress ink and are attached to the layout using foam tape..  the road is located on the Every Day paper dolls cartridge and I cut that at 2 1/2" and in brown to stay in with the color scheme..
