hydrangea- flower tute..

Good Saturday to you all..
As promised Yesterday, I have finally gotten my flower tutorial all ready and posted..
I love Prima hydrangea flowers, but I love making my own flowers even more..
I figured there has to be a way to create my own and I can make them any color or print that I want..
so, for my very first attempt I wanted to make them pink.
Here is a photo of the flowers:
and here is a photo of the items I used to make them:
Since I made them pink: I used light pink cardstock and I also cut the shape out of the maya collection papers we used for the SOUS paper and sketch challenge..
I also used Tim Holtz distress inks: Worn Lipstick and Dried Marigold.
You don't have to , but I also spritzed it with pink bubblegum glimmer mist..
so here are some step by step photos:
I warn you, the black cardstock that I used for the background will get messy on the way...LOL

Step 1. I used my embossing tool to rub lines on the cardstock. I then folded the lines to give them more debt.. which I will ink..

Step 2:  I dabbed my sponge in the dried marigold ink and then  only dabbed the center of the flower
which we will re-do this step again towards the end..

Step 3. I now dabbed the other sponge in the worn lipstick ink pad and then rubbed it on the edges of the flower shaped cardstock.
You can already see the big change in the cardstock.
*I could of stopped here, but why I ask? when I can make them so much better..LOL

Step 4. I added a small drop of Petal Pink liquid pearl to the edges and then with my finger I just dabbed it a little to blend in the edges..
*the sponge in the photo is only there to support the bottle, it kept rolling away...LOL

Step 5: I re-dabbed the center with the dried marigold and  then spritzed it a few times with the glimmer mist.. you can't tell in this photo, but it has a nice glimmer shine to it..

Step 6:  I then added a tiny bit of Cotton Candy stickles to the edges of the flower

Step 7: I then punched a hole in the center and added a jeweled brad..

The flowers I cut using the Home Accent Cartridge, I had to weld two cuts together using my design studio software..
You can go download the Cricut design studio file HERE, it has the leaves as well..
*You can add another small flower to the center if you wish, its all up to you how you finish them off..
You can get better views of the flower on the top photo of this post or on the layout itself which I had posted just prior to this tutorial..
Have fun and I would love to see what you come with, so please leave a comment so I can come and view your layout or card..
Hugs
Nanné

These are so freakin' gorgeous that they rival real flowers and each step you did makes total sense to me...
