Ships A'Hoy Shadow Box-Die Cut reveal-SOUS

Us girls over at SOUS are having our die cut reveal today and we played around with a theme this week.. The them is "In The Water!".. meaning, add die cuts to your projects that have to do with water..
I wanted to create something special for my mom and this was a perfect opportunity to use one of our cruise photos from last fall and I created a shadow box for her..
Can you believe I created the entire thing out of cardstock?
So much fun and it was actually a lot quicker than I could of ever imagined..

how about some close ups:

Theirs a photo of my mom standing in front of the ship we were about to board..
In this side view, you can see how deep those boxes are.. I didn't want anything to lay flat inside of them, so most everything is being held up with little legs I created out of cardstock..

One of my favorites here.. Love how I clustered all of these goodies and by the way, these are all digital elements (except for the coral, that's a die cut) I made into cutting files using the SIL software.. fun and easy!!

The little paper beads in the bottom box, well thats actually a digital element that I printed and cut with Cameo.. They look pretty real don't they?..LOL

I also wanted to add some of the digital elements to the top of the shadow box along with some packing twine.. a flat look would of been boring..

I also added some fun sayings and a few banners, plus the cute little crab..
I decided to add a faux wood look to the edge of the box and also added some packing twine to just add another fun element..

alrighty then, that's my project for this weeks die cut reveal..
I'm seriously hooked on these shadow boxes and they are some much fun to decorate..
Can't wait to start designing my next one :)

So, do stop by SOUS and check out what fun and amazing projects the rest of our design team has created for todays reveal..
Till next time..
have a scrap-tastic weekend
Hugs

  3. I love it! What really caught my eye was how dimensional this was! I love all the play with the depth of your box and I especially think it's wonderful that you used a cut file to create the box itself (reminding me that I have some of those!) You did a great job creating the print and cut elements, too! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring!!!!
