Great Beginnings-Frosted Designs Reveal

I have been absolutely dying to make one of these layouts with the faux metal look and It only took me a few hours to actually get this one made.. Fasted layout I've made yet..LOL
Everything you see underneath the metal is cut out of chipboard just so it pops off of the layout..
Here is my take on our Sketch:
the story behind the layout is....
My husband opened up his own garage here in Finland specializing in Amercian cars and this corvette is one of the first cars he got to tamper with a few years back.. I printed the photo in Sepia, to match the metal feel and look of the layout, I think my inks might be running low or something, cause it came out awfully red..LOL
and this is my first attempt at this style, so its not perfect just yet..LOL

and here is the sketch that I followed when I created this layout:

I dont' have many close ups, but here are the few that I do have...

and for supplies used:
black cardstock: base
electrical tap
dry wall tape
black craft paint
chipboard sheets
metal art tools by: Walnut Hollow
Tim Holtz Crackle paint: walnut stain
cuttlebug
Tim Holtz gears dye cut plate

Cricut Plantin Schoolbook: font
Cricut Indie Art: Wrenches

I seen this amazing faux metal technique video on youtube and thought "how cool is that!"..
Here is the link to her video and just so you know, Its not my video so be kind and leave her some love..

Thats it for the supplies.. wow, what a short list.  LOL
I'm off to enjoy my work day now.. I promised my hubby that I would start putting in more hours at his garage this week, even though I already work a full time job at a grocery store managing the bakery and dairy departments..LOL   hopefully this won't interfere with my crafting, cause that aint' gonna work then..LOL
have a great rest of the week ladies..

As much as I hate seeing the summer weeks go flying by, I do have to admit that Reveal day is always a favorite of mine.. and today is the Sketch Along Tuesdays reveal over at Frosted Designs..  Our very own Debbies (plural) made this double page sketch for us girls to work with and I loved it!! These photos are of my husband taken during my moms wedding a few weeks ago.. He had no idea I was snapping photos while he was enjoying a quiet moment with his glass of cougnac (<--yuck)..LOL
My men were all dressed alike, but I really wanted to make a page of just my hubby and we can look back in 30 yrs and remember what he looked liked at the young age of 41..
Well, enough yapping about the layout LOL

I do have to admit that I loved this sketch and had so much fun with it, especially when I found this cute photo of my daughter holding a bunch of apples.. I printed it in sepia instead of color, I love how it turned out..
ok ok ok, I hear ya.. lets get to the layout shall we..LOL

and for a few close ups of the layout.

Pearl drops (halves) I added to the trim of the big circle.. I'm really happy with how it looks!

I hand made the paper rosette with my paper trimmer and
my Martha Stewart edge punch, plus a Basic Grey brad..
The pink flowers are Primas that I got at a great deal over Generations Crafting, white flowers are from Iamroses and the cream colored are by Ranger and I bought those online here in Finland..
The papers are by My Minds Eye and I also inked the edges using Tim Holtz distress ink "Vintage photo!"..

Sketch Along Tuesday Reveal for April 19th

Its Sketch along Tuesdays at Frosted Designs again today.. Wooo Hoo!!.. We have an original sketch by Debbie Burns.. I loved it !!
I've been dying to make a masculine layout for the longest time now and when my son Adam handed me his school pics, I knew exactly what I wanted to make..
I created some gears a few weeks back and this was the perfect opportunity to use them along with some chains, screw head brads and other metal embellishments I found in my stash.. I love the way this layout turned out..
I also found some Graphic45 papers in my stash and thought those would be perfect for this layout..
 Here is the sketch:

best part of these sketch's is that you really can make it your own.. feel inspired to create your own masterpiece.  :)

and for some close ups:

and for supplies used:

Papers by : Graphic45
Cricut: Gears(SCAL) even though you can create you own with you DS, I tried and it will works great..
Corrugated cardboard
paints: black and red
Tim Holtz crackle paint (white)
Tim Holtz distress inks: Vintage photo
black ink by: Stazon
Tim Holtz stamp: film Strip

Words to Live By- Frosted Designs Reveal

I have to admit, I'm having the best time playing around with all of these different sketches and really opening my eyes to all of the many possibilities that these sketches can bring..
for instance this one I used as my design team project for Frosted Designs Tuesday's sketch challenge..

So, here is my take on this weeks sketch:

I really wanted to make of these fabulous ruffled banners that our very own Annette over SOUS was kind enough to share a tutorial for.. Kudos to you Annette..!! and if you love them as much as I do, just click
HERE and it will take you straight to the tute...
So, instead of cutting a scalloped border, I made the ruffles.. Love them!!

I always try to make these sketches my own and get inspired by them.. Because I added the roses on the bottom border, I had to move the flower cluster up.. and then wanted the title to reflect the writing on her t-shirt which says " I love being Awesome!"..so, I added the big arrow..
by the way, that t-shirt fits her like a glove..LOL

here is the sketch I followed:

super cute sketch, don't ya think.. Lots of room to play around with..
and for a few close ups of the layout:

Here is a close up of the title and flower cluster.. oh and I love this photo of her ..I'm her best Facebook stalker, I'm always there looking at possible photos I can nab..LOL
and you can also see in this pic, how I emboss stampped some flowers in the upper corner, heat set them with clear embossing powder and then inked over them with Tim Holtz distress inks..

Here is a close up of the ruffled banner with the roses, which are by prima.. love them!! so super cute..

and a fuzzy close up of the t-shirt..LOL
she was coming to work( we work together) and I snapped this pic of her before she got dressed in her work uniform..
