A gift for my Best Friend Kat.

Happy New Year to all of my blogging sisters.. LOL  

I've been lucky enough to have a few days off from work and got to create this cute little 8x8 chipboard sign for my best friend Kat..  I seen one on Scrapbook.com, though a bit similar it wasn't exactly as this one.. The saying is the only thing that is the same!!  My best friend has a sick sense of humor, as do I and I know she will absolutely love this..LOL  Call it a house warming gift if you will, since she just moved..

 I used Graphic45 papers, prima flowers and pearls.. some lace ribbon and distress inks..

We dont' share the similar taste in style, so I hope she likes this.. Didn't want to make too girly girl or use bright colors, which I know it would not have gone with her decor..

I fell in love with this quote.. I thougth it was soooooooo funny..LOL
I just noticed that I have miss placed one word..LOL DOH!.. need to fix that ASAP..

I used my computer to print the words, then cut them into small squares, inked the edges with Vintage Photo ink, glued em to the paper using Glossy Accents and then finally added some Matte Accents on top.. I absolutely love how it curled the edges.. Two thumbs up for Matte Accents..LOL

Who doesn't like Primas right?..
It did take me a while to find just the right flowers in the stash. I think these go perfectly with the color scheme of the sign..

well Ladies.. This was a quick project I was able to finish up yesterday and its going to be mailed out tomorrow.. I can't wait for her to see it and I wish I could be a fly on her wall to hear her get a chuckle out of it...

My Indian Name is ? Wooden sign

 

As you can clearly see, I'm having way to much fun making these wooden signs..LOL  :O)

My dd is part Apache indian and she has an 8 month old doberman pup.. He is not so Puppy anymore...LOL

well, she lives on her own and I wanted to surprise her with a little something and this only took me about 20 mins to make.. 

scrap piece of wood measuring 8" x 4" x 1"..

covered with spray glue and black cardstock.. added some paper punched trim, cut the girl and pup silhoutte using  "A Childs Year" cartridge and the font for the title I used SCAL..

hand doodled some trim with a white gel pen and added some silver stickle for the dogs collar..

 The white cardstock was really thick to cut and it didn't cut very clean..but you can only tell if you look at it real close.. 

  

Here is side view, just to show you it is a piece of wood..LOL

My dd loved it by the way and busted out laughing when she seen it...

Ok.. back to creating something new..

Wooden Sign-Dust is a Country Accent

 

Have I told you all how much I love my Cricut.. well," I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY LOVE MY CRICUT"...LOL  :o)

When I seen this quote, I knew this was the sign for me...LOL  :O) This is so going to be displayed in my kitchen and with pride...  :O)

I love all those primitive country signs out there, but I hate the prices and why buy something when you can make it yourself..right?  So, 

Look what I made and in less than a few hours!!

 Here I have it on my shelf in my living room.. on the bottom left hand corner...LOL

I took a piece of wood 8"w x 6h" x 1"d..<--hope I did that right..

Sprayed it with glue, attached a piece of brown cardstock cut to size (big enough to cover the sides).

then I cut a piece of printed paper (K & Co-Wild Saffron) and cut a piece to cover just the front 8"x6"..

Used my SCAL software to cut the font and my Cricut design studio for the sheep and heart.. Which by the way I pieced the sheep together using several different cartridges.. body is a scalloped circle (winter woodland cartridge) that I stretched a little bit so it wouldn't be so circular and same thing with the head of hair.. The legs are letter "L" and the face and ears are the letter "P"(<--shadow ) from the "All Mixed Up" cartridge.. The heart is from George and Basic Shapes..

I hand doodled around the letters in "DUST" and in "COUNTRY"..

I used an emery board on the edges of the sign and then rubbed some Distress ink on it.. Walnut Stain and Black..
